SATURDAY I got up early to do some art, then we had a 10am Trampoline Jump place bday party for Rylie.
The pizza was yummy
and the Dora cupcakes were "deliciously adorable".
Of course we all wore green for St. Patty' Day. Aaron even got to go, but had to leave a little early to go coach.
home for nap, then back out to make a 3:30pm Little Gym bday party for his buddy Zach.
M and the kids' smiled didn't fade the whole time.
The Zoo theme was perfect fun for my little animal lover!
We ate a super delicious dinner at Pasados then joined Aaron for the FCD soccer game.
SUNDAY we all accidentally slept in! until 9:10am!! I am on the worship team, and need to BE THERE at 9am. Guess sleep won out this day! We hurried to get to church, but no worship team for me this week! I felt such a need to organize every inch of our house after church while M napped and until Denise asked us to come over and go for another walk. We were invited to stay for her homemade potato soup dinner.
Spring Break '12 was a GREAT one. a super productive one filled with family time, friend time, play time, cuddle time, and lots of sweet boy time!

SPRING BREAK (S/S)
Labels: Family Fun
SPRING BREAK (F)
FRIDAY I got an unplanned sleeping-in!! Aaron and M had cinnamon toast and hot coffee ready for me when I woke up at 8am. and a little somebody woke me up wearing his dinosaur dress-up costume. We went for a walk with my sweet neighbor and friend Denise, and he looked too cute and neither he and i wanted him to change for the walk.
Pretty cute sight! Reminds me of "where the wild things are" That evening, I didn't make a playdate in time with some friends from high school (boo) due to nap running long, and how it takes me 45 minutes to drive there. So after being a little frustrated with the
time management on that one, my friend Allison called and asked us to still come over and let M play with her almost 2 year old daughter London. She asked us to stay for dinner. a super duper amazing dinner. Shrimp Scampi. my mouth is still watering.

SPRING BREAK (TH)
THURSDAY we went back out to see friend in from out of town, and met up to swim at her indoor hotel pool. Ate lunch at Chilis (Mmmm), played at a park, and had to go back to Dr to get our TB test results. Interesting... learned that my thyroid test was borderline and to come back to recheck in 3 months. That afternoon after nap, while Aaron went to coach, M and I headed to some new beautiful nature trails.
M loved the flowers and went on a bear hunt.
He LOVED the trails. like A LOT!! We need to take Aaron back with us next time!!
and he giggled nonstop over the birds chirping and talking to him.
We picnic'd with books and fruit snacks! PICNIC #4
Then after a stop at sonic for some corn dogs, we stopped at a friends house in our neighborhood to pick up some fruit- they buy in bulk where restaurants buy their fruit. and oh, it is DELICIOUS!! pineapples, pears, oranges, and mangos.

FUNNIES
The stand-up comedian keeps his audience in stitches... (pic taken back in nov 2010 when he was just 18 months) Has always been SUCH a ham!
"I need to send email, Mommy. I NEED to."
"This gonna be fun!!" one of my favorite things he says, squeals...
mekele with a dry paintbrush "painting" on my face says he is painting me... then putting shampoo on, adding grass, and then mud, and finally flowers. If this was real, what an absolute mess. Love this boy's creativity!!
The new statement I hear countless times a day from a little cutie with a raised hand.... "hey, hey. I have question." followed by no questions. :)
Making bird feeders, he repeatedly says "Birds gonna like this!!"! My little bird lover is so stinkin' excited!
i do pony tails so much that when my hair is down, mekele asks me "Whats wrong with your hair?? Put back up, ok? :)
on our walk last night, meke is looking down into the water drain, and asks "what's down there, mommy? flamingos??!?" where does he get this stuff? :)
Two fence panels that separates us and our neighbors' yard blew over in the wind and rain today. Their dogs have been able to mozy on over to our yard as they please. Meke looked out the window, and excitedly yelled "We have DOGS!!" ...Its rainy cats and DOGS out there, people! :)
at nap, I say "Ok, nap until 4:00, see on the clock, a 4 right here." He responds, "No... nap until 10 right there." "Ok, sure... nap until 10:00pm" :)
We all had to get some shots last week, and I just reminded Mekele "You didn't cry when you got your shot. You are SO brave." He replies, "Yes, I AM brave... You are brave, too, Mommy."
"ok, buddy, Its time to go lay down for nap." His response, "...maybe tomowwow (tomorrow)" :) so funny, this boy of mine! Aaron and I say "maybe tomorrow" a lot so we aren't saying "no" a lot.
with a Frosted Mini-Wheat on his head like a teeny little hat, giggly Mekele says "This look good, Mommy? You like my hat? You like it?! Now we go to school with my little hat?"
This morning as I am putting my hair up in my go-to style (ponytail), Mekele exclaims "OH, MOMMY!! You're BACK!!"
In Mekele's bath this morning, he looks into the reflective silver pieces in the tub, and notices the way it distorts things and says "hey, mom, I am big! it my birthday now?? I am big now! i ready for my presents now." oh, may 20 is still pretty far off for our boy turning 3!
Telling a story, any story, lately "Anyways" makes it into the conversation. more like "Any....ways" I don't want the cereal ...any...ways. I eat yogurt ...any... ways."

ARMADILLO PRAYERS
While driving on the highway mekele sees that there is an armadillo that had been hit. He says "we need to pray for armadillo. His mommy and daddy miss him" Thankful for my sweet sensitive animal-loving boy.

EGG HUNT
Mekele and his WeeCare friends had fun today at their Egg Hunt and Bunny Party at Mothers Day Out!
Chick-Fil-A lunch party!
Meke and his gal pal!
Hopping down to the hall to the egg hunt!
"Everyone can take home 12 eggs" Meke and his friends counting to 12!
The hunt is on. This egg hunt stuff is serious business!
floppy-earred cutie!

SPRING BREAK (W)
WEDNESDAY Aaron really wanted to take M to preschool open gym at gymnastics. I normally love going but this time was fine when Aaron asked me if I would like to go shopping while they go. Ummm... YES, a few hours to myself.
daddy/meke date to weinerschnitzel for hot dogs.
I DO love being with my boys, but this was a little bit of Bliss.. I went and did a little shirt shopping for me. We met up after lunch, and M's cousins were over for a visit when i got back, which he loved. Hide and seek, bouncing on the trampoline.
That night we met several of my best friends from college at a park for a playdate. One friend was in town, another moving to Cali soon, and always great to see them and so sweet to watch our kids play together...

SPRING BREAK (M/T)
MONDAY worked on lots of paperwork, so much paperwork that our friend Emily watched M for us in the morning.
We had a pizza picnic at home in the beautiful weather. PICNIC #1
and trampoline fun
Then more paperwork in the afternoon/evening so M played with his cousins. We are a family who is together just all the time, and don't use babysitters and haven't needed to ask friends/family to watch him much, so this was a bit odd for us. But it was necessary, and he really enjoyed all the playing with his buddies!
TUESDAY we started our day early with a pretty long to do list.
8:30am dr appts for me and aaron
and playing in the lobby
dropping off an employment verification for aaron, a funny little stop at the county detention center for fingerprints, and a glorious stop at Starbucks (amen for gift cards!! we each one from christmas) Aaron splurged and got Meke a chocolate donut!
finally a dr appt for M. No more 97% and 90% for this boy.
making his "bill cosby" face.
We love that M goes to see a pediatrician who Aaron has known for years - aaron and his son were good friends since high school. And Dr. just built a new office in our favorite place in the town, overlooking a beautiful park, pond, and new shops (created to resemble a Croatian fishing village). After the Dr and all the errands and all the lengthy stops, the three of us spent quality time playing together at the park, in the sandbox
sitting up on top of a big beautiful hill overlooking the big pond.
We sat on a blanket and enjoyed our picnic lunch. PICNIC #2
It was perfect, like, "pinch-me-am-i-dreaming? kind of good. The weather was AMAZING. M and Aaron walk down to see the ducks, and come back with M holding a wildflower, and tells me "Here Mommy, I have flower for you.". Melt.
