EYE ROLL

So tonight we had a first. And he had me laughing big time. He has me in stitches most days, but this new move was so surprising and clever...

So I said to Mekele, my son who at school tries to eat something of all six of his classmates' lunch... "I see that you like what your friends at school bring in their lunch boxes. Lets think of foods you would like to eat at school in your lunch, ok? and we will write the foods down on paper"

The teacher in me was thinking oh and plus if he sees me write a list in front of him, he will be reminded that print carries meaning... (In hindsight i also could have drawn pictures of it for his sake, too) :)

After I wrote my list, he grabbed the pen, and said, "Mommy, (what do you) want (for) lunch?" As he "wrote" grapes, banana, cheese down on his list, he spelled "eu eu a... banana as he traces his fingers left to right clearly proud of his new spelling abilities. :)

Anyways, his response to my original question about making a list... HE PROCEEDS TO LIFT HIS EYES UP AS HIGH AS THEY WOULD GO IN FULL EYE ROLL AS HE EVER SO SLOWLY SHAKES HIS HEAD FROM LEFT TO RIGHT WITH A SLIGHT GRIN!!

I didn't get a pic, but this pic from the summer kind of helps set the tone of our little goofball.

He doesn't know that an eye roll isn't something that you should really do to people, isn't very nice, and that it really didn't fit the situation of an eye roll anyhow, but seriously I was flabbergasted.. I never thought my son would be joke eye-rolling me at two years old. I asked him where he came up with that, and after doing it SEVERAL more times he shared the name of his 3 year old buddy. And now I can remember seeing that same joke eye roll on his friend also completely out of context too, thank goodness..

I'm just glad to get the whole eye roll thing out of the way at two... I guess the teen years are going to be a breeze!
