What a beautiful weekend!! the weather, the family time, the refreshing time at home together getting things done...
Friday night I was given an admission bracelet to get in to a large kids consignment sale a day early and to beat the crowds.. thanks, Rena! Mekele's closet thanks you! I loaded up on...
3T clothes- 10 long and short sleeve shirts, 2 cute little Gap jeans, 1 thick OshKosh hoody, 1 adorable little mocha hooded vest, a pair of cute tennis shoes. Prices ranged from $1 for a shirt, $2 for jeans, $4 for a vest hoody, $6 for warm weather hoody, $4 for new shoes. seriously.
Christmas gifts for Mekele- a squishy Tonic big truck, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and a letter/animal puzzle (each piece of the puzzle has part of the pic and a letter to build the word. highest price was $4 for the truck. thank you, yes, I will.
1 nap time cd- Aaron has showed Mekele how to work the (old-school alert..) cd player and take this in and out, which has resulted in a stack of scratched cds. thanks.. $1
Toys for WeeCare- a grocery basket, 2 preschool learning cd, and a bag of play food. $9 total
and {3} Halloween costumes!! 3 is not necessary, but since I couldn't decide and they were so cheap, I bought them all as dress up. 1. FIRST is a cowboy with cow print chaps {which will serve as "Woody"- sure, he looks a lot more like Jesse's outfit... but it is for boys, so we'll go with it bc he looks absolutely adorable in it.
{Every time he sees someone wearing a hat, a cowboy hat, a safari hat, a garden hat, that person gets a mighty "Yeehawww". Making his Poppy proud. This is about the most Texan thing I will ever post here... so obviously we will in Texas, and both of my parents are from West Texas. My dad really took that and ran with it. He always dreamed of being a ...rodeo clown. yes, a RODEO CLOWN. but if you knew my dad, it makes sense. Not that he is particularly western anymore, but just makes sense. He and his personality are just too cute.}
2. SECOND is an adorable green with yellow spots T-Rex costume complete with a big pillowy tail and spikes- the boy also does a TON of roaring like dinos everywhere he goes, so also fitting.
3. THIRD is a striped shirt like I have been for to make him into one of his other favorite Sesame Street characters. (yes, there are other favorites besides Elmo, but shhh don't tell Elmo that. and I have some cute rubber duckies..
decisions, decisions... :)
I just happen to have a Jesse-esque costume that I could wear to go along with the top two for a Toy Story theme. and I have the stuff to make me into a Zoe from Sesame Street. again, decision, decisions :) haha
Friday evening, Mekele was feeling hot and ended up with a low grade fever, so he and Aaron stayed home from our small group Bible Study, and took the night to rest and cuddle on the couch. much needed daddy time.
and I made Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies... DELICIOUS!!!!! I guess we have to keep eating them with next week being on Letter Bb week. Its a sacrifice I'm willing to make for the sake of my son's learning. I'm just that giving.
Saturday has been full of a day of Aaron gone for soccer all day, so another day for me and mekele, little man and I relaxing with cartoons, doing laundry, showing him that he can start making matches with the socks, playing blocks, trying on his costumes, cleaning a new water table I came across- probably for WeeCare, exploring a grasshopper and ginormous spider he found, and I am making a new recipe for dinner crockpot lasagna, and still trying to be low-key with mekele's low-grade fever and his skin being so hot to the touch. We almost had a garage sale today with friends, but it didn't seem like it would come together in time according to garage sale tips posted by Pitter Patter Art, but thankful since Mekele isn't feeling like himself.
Sunday I know we have church, and then nothing on the agenda besides completing an application. It will be a great day of still accomplishing things as we think of it and me making progress on art orders.
Thankful for a weekend like this.
